The Netcare 7 helicopter ambulance was activated to airlift the patient
A Spartan worker was left seriously injured when a truck tyre he was inflating exploded on Monday afternoon.
According to Shawn Herbst, spokesperson for Netcare 911, they were called to the scene at 5pm.
“Reports from the scene indicated that a truck tyre had exploded while being filled with air. Medics assessed the factory worker who had sustained serious injuries when the tyre exploded near his face.
“He was treated on scene by a Netcare 911 emergency care practitioner who managed to stabilise him,” said Herbst.
Due to the nature of his injuries, the Netcare 7 helicopter ambulance was activated to airlift the patient to a specialist facility for the care he required.
