Three nabbed after trying to flee in Croydon

Drugs, counterfeit money and an unlicensed firearm were confiscated

Three suspects were arrested on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of drugs and counterfeit money.

Three members from Sebenza SAPS made the arrests in Croydon on Monday afternoon.

Sgt Sharon Tsotsotso, spokesperson for Sebenza SAPS, Sgt Barbara Tshunungwa and Const Xolani Mlambo were patrolling in the area when they noticed three suspicious-looking people on Die Agora Road.

“Two of the suspects were female and one male. The two women were inside a white Ford Ranger while the man was standing next to the vehicle,” said Tsotsotso.

“We were driving in the opposite direction and made a U-turn. The male suspect got inside the vehicle and tried to drive off, but we followed and stopped them.

“We asked to search them, which was when we found the women in possession of drugs and counterfeit money.”

When the officers searched the man they found him in possession of an unlicensed firearm and all three suspects, aged between 27 and 29, were arrested.
