Glen Marais motorcycle accident lands biker in hospital

The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old female au-pair, was with an 11-year-old girl

A motorcyclist was rushed to hospital after colliding with a BMW on the corner of Monument Road and Anemoon Street in Glen Marais on Friday afternoon.

The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old female au-pair, had an 11-year-old girl in the car with her at the time of the accident. Both were treated for shock by paramedic.

Sec Pros ILS paramedic, Stephan Henderson, was among those first on the scene and treated the motorcyclist.

“The patient is stable, and although he didn’t sustain any life-threatening injuries, there are a few fractured ribs,” said Henderson.

Both the vehicle and the motorcycle were badly damaged.

Zaack Coetzee, a car guard, witnessed the accident.

“The BMW was driving up Monument Road and stopped at the stop sign, then drove onto Anemoon Street. Before we knew it, the motorcycle came down Monument Road and collided with the vehicle,” said Coetzee.
