Ikamva Youth celebrates its learners’ results
Ikamva Youth celebrates with the learners it has been tutoring.
Inkamva Youth Ebony Park celebrated their matriculants of 2019 who achieved distinctions, on January 8.
The centre is a youth-development organisation that helps township schools around the country improve their matric results.
On January8, Inkamva invited learners who were part of its tutoring programme to have one more session with them. The session included career guidance and ways of getting into varsity.
Michael Thema, branch coordinator, said they help matrics through intensive academic tutoring with volunteers from different universities in Johannesburg, and do career guidance and mentoring programmes, to name a few.
“We have been operating in Gauteng, specifically Ivory Park, Mamelodi, Diepsloot and Ebony Park. The Ebony Park branch has been operating since 2008.
“We are incredibly proud of our learners, and we expect more good things from our post Grade 12 learners. We have some exceptional learners who we believe need to be recognised for their achievements, despite some of the hard difficulties they’ve endured in their lives.
“We have Amukelani Mabuza with five distinctions, Kgomotso Mazwi with one distinction, Salome Pila with one distinction and Nomfundo Ngubane with five distinctions.”
Thema added that they would like to invite the community to their open day on January 18, at their Ebony Park branch based in Methodist Church, in President Park Boshoff road.
“On this day, we would be joined by our sponsors Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa as we would be awarding top achievers. Mostly, we want to spread the word about learners who inspire others so that they can see they have opportunities and they too can go on to become stars in their communities.”
