Clean-up campaign launched in Kaalfontein
ANC Greater Midrand launches its clean-up programme.
The African National Congress of Greater Midrand embarked on a clean-up campaign launched at David Makhubo Secondary School in Kaalfontein, on January 9.
This was adopted from the City of Johannesburg’s executive mayor Clr Geoff Makhubo’s clean-up operations during the festive season in the City of Johannesburg wards. The executive mayor was accompanied by MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services Clr Mpho Moerane, MMC for Public Safety Clr Mally Mokoena, speaker of council, Clr Nonceba Molwele; and also joined by various city entities, including Pikitup, JMPD, Joburg Water and Joburg Roads Agency during his clean-up campaign.
With public illegal dumping being a major problem, the Greater Midrand adopted this campaign to put similar efforts of those demonstrated by the executive mayor and try to keep the environment clean.

Chairperson of ANC Greater Midrand Ntabeleng Chokoe said branches of the ANC within the zones of Greater Midrand called on the councillors and other zonal leaders to embark on this clean-up campaign.
“We designed our own programme similar to the one of the mayor’s campaign, in total we have 11 wards to clean up and started with ward 92 to speed things up.”
Chokoe also urged the community to keep their environment clean and safe to avoid all health hazards associated with illegal dumping.
“During the clean-up campaign, we will also call on the community to educate them about the dangers of illegal dumping and diseases that can arise from living in such conditions,” said Chokoe.
