‘Dreadful’ New Year’s Eve as 30 dogs end up at SPCA
Dozens of dogs have been reported missing at SPCA and on various WhatsApp groups respectively, and shockingly just a few owners have gone to collect their fur babies.
Sadly, the festivities on New Year’s Eve resulted in 30 dogs being brought to Kempton Park SPCA.
From January 1 to 5, only five of these dogs had been claimed by their owners.
The manager of the society, Kira Sparrow, said 37 dogs had been reported missing on various unrelated WhatsApp groups and it would appear that so far only three had been reunited with their owners.
“At the SPCA, surprisingly, only five dogs had been reported missing, of which two had been found, and two missing cats, of which one had been found.”
When talking about Kempton Park’s fireworks activity in general on New Year’s Eve, Sparrow said: “It was dreadful. I think it was one of the worst years. One cannot compare it to 2018, since it poured with rain.”
With the influx of dozens of new arrivals over the festive season, the SPCA only has enough food reserves for the next seven days. Any contributions of dog and cat food would be of great help.
