Limited risk of load shedding this weekend

No load shedding is expected on Saturday morning and during the day.

However, owing to the constrained and vulnerable system, there is a limited risk of load shedding in the evening and on Sunday, Eskom said in a statement issued on Saturday morning.

“Thanks to some good work overnight, we have been able to deliver an improvement in the power system. As a result of this work, we do not expect to implement load shedding today,” said Eskom.

“Our pumped storage schemes have been sufficiently replenished and we continue to work to improve on the levels of diesel at our open cycle gas turbine generators.”

Unplanned outages and breakdowns sat at 13 027MW at 6.30am on Saturday.
