Original story:

Transformers at the Len Futcher building on Plane Road in Spartan (electricity department building) caught fire on Sunday morning.

All services are currently on scene and roads had been closed. Residents are asked to stay clear from the area.

Ward councillor Jaco Terblanche reported a short while ago that the electricity in areas such as Nimrod Park, Aston Manor and Kempton Park extensions had already gone off.

“This could be another situation similar to the one when the Glen Marais substation burned down,” he said.
