Murder suspect on the run finally arrested in Exubeni

The station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has welcomed the arrest.

Ivory Park detectives have arrested a 23-year-old man at Exubeni Section in Tembisa on January 23. He had been on the run after he allegedly stabbed another man.

The suspect is alleged to have stabbed a 30-year-old man from Kaalfontein in June last year during a drunken- related argument which took place at a tavern. It is not yet clear what the argument was about.

Capt Bernard Matimulane, Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, said the deceased was stabbed once in the neck and was declared dead on the scene. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the murder and later changed his residential address.

“What the suspect didn’t know was that a team of detectives were assigned with tracing him, worked around the clock and were not prepared to rest until he was brought to book to answer to the allegations levelled against him.

The station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has welcomed the arrest.

“We want to make it clear that all the cases reported to us do receive all the attention they so deserve, and anyone who thinks may come into Ivory Park and shatter lives and cause trauma will be dealt with accordingly,” said Ngcobo.

Ngcobo further thanked the members of the community whose statements and ongoing assistance played a significant part in landing the suspect behind bars.

The suspect has been charged with murder and is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
