Ivory Park SAPS needs assistance to find killer

Foreign national killed at Ivory Park in an alleged revenge situation.

Ivory Park police are requesting help from the public with information regarding a murder during which an Ivory Park man (35) was shot 15 times at Extension Five on January 26.

The deceased was a Zimbabwean national and was in his neighbourhood when seven armed men came to his house. When they didn’t find him there the group forcefully took his girlfriend’s phone, preventing her from informing him there were people looking for him.

He was seen at a nearby tuck shop, and that was when they started firing shots from all directions. He fell to the ground. but they continued to shoot him. The man was certified dead at the scene.

Capt Bernard Matimulane, Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, said the motive for the murder is not known yet.“Police are following all the leads, and would appreciate any information that can assist in leading to an arrest of the suspects.”

Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo, the station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, said it is quite clear from the number of shots and the number of people involved that this group came to the area with the sole purpose of killing someone.

“We as the police and law-abiding members of the community must stop them as quickly as possible,” said Ngcobo.
