Man arrested for alleged rape of niece

Upon her arrival at home the victim confided in her parents

Detectives from the Ekurhuleni North District have arrested a 38-year-old man for the alleged rape of his niece while the two were jogging in Ivory Park in the early evening of January 23.

Capt Bernard Matimulane, Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, said that while they were jogging, the suspect made inappropriate comments to the 22-year-old victim.

“While they were jogging home, the uncle grabbed her, pulled her to the nearby veld where he forced himself on her. Upon her arrival at home the victim confided in her parents and a case of rape was opened against the suspect at the Ivory Park SAPS. He is due to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on Monday to answer to this charge,” said Matimulane.
