Suspected nyaope dealers arrested

"Members further conducted two stop-and-searches," said Sekgobela.

Members from Ekurhuleni police stations, led by Brig Thabo Mphuti, paraded at Phumlani Mall early on Wednesday morning in order to continue to occupy the streets and make sure the citizens get the protection they deserve in Tembisa South.

Some of the shacks in Vusimusi Section were raided to check for drugs while other members conducted road blocks and visited liquor outlets to squeeze the space of criminals.

Capt Nelda Sekgobela, Ekurhuleni district communications officer, said the members and community patrollers who participated in the operation arrested five suspects for possession of nyaope, two suspects for possession of stolen property (clothes), and one suspect for theft.

“They also impounded two vehicles, one firearm was taken for section 102 inquiry, closed five illegal shebeens with fines of R7 500 each, and searched 296 vehicles and 466 people.

“Members further conducted two stop-and-searches,” said Sekgobela.
