Murder suspects nabbed in Tembisa

She took a sharp object and stabbed him on the upper body during a heated argument.

Ekurhuleni district zone one Police Services under the command of Gen Vincent Leshabane were involved in operations with other law-enforcement agencies to continue squeezing out space for criminals.

They managed to arrest more than 83 suspects for various crimes that were committed recently. Operations included roadblocks, stop-and-searches and responding to crimes in general.

The police managed to recover five firearms since February 7 until the early hours of Sunday.

Capt Manyadza Ralidzhivha, Rabasotho SAPS communications officer, said a 40-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly murdering her 41-year-old husband at Temong Section. The two had an argument after she learned that her husband was chatting with another woman on WhatsApp.

“She took a sharp object and stabbed him on the upper body during a heated argument. A case of murder was opened against her. Another man (50) of Madelakufa was also arrested for the murder of his friend.

Additionally, Capt Nelda Sekgobela, Ekurhuleni district communications officer, said that five suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

“The suspects were arrested after a car hijacking that took place in Edenvale. A neighbour shot at the suspects who were hijacking his neighbour’s car, this resulted in an intensive manhunt for the suspects by the Trio task team. A suspect was found lying in Edenvale Hospital with a bullet in him some few minutes after the hijacking.

“It was further established that he was one of the suspects who robbed the vehicle at Edenvale. Later, the vehicle was found at Sundringham with bullet holes and blood stains inside.”

In another event, a 26-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his girlfriend in Rabie Ridge. This happened after he saw her walking with another man. He took her to his house where he started to assault and rape her and locked her in the room. She managed to get out of the room when the boyfriend opened for a friend who came to visit.

Other suspects were arrested for crimes including possession of and dealing in drugs, theft, malicious damage to property, house break-ins and theft, common assault, domestic violence, business burglary, possession of suspected stolen properties, fraud, counterfeit goods and contravention of protection order.

All the arrested suspects will soon appear in the Magistrate’s Courts in Tembisa and Edenvale respectively.
