Thief found hiding on top of neighbour’s roof on Highveld Road

The suspect was discovered by the victim and the owner of the house whose roof was used as a hiding place.

A 23-year-old suspect was arrested after being found on top of a roof at a house on Highveld Road after he allegedly broke into another house on the evening of February 1.

“It is alleged that when the victim whose house was burgled arrived home, he saw the suspect jumping over the wall carrying the victim’s bag,” said Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, deputy spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“The victim also realised that one of the windows at the front of his house was forced open and things were lying on the floor. He chased the suspect, who then got on top of the roof of another house.”

The suspect was discovered by the victim and the owner of the house whose roof was used as a hiding place. They called the police to the scene and the suspect was arrested on charges of residential burglary.
