
A vehicle transporting cigarettes was found abadoned in Tembisa by Benoni Flying Squad on Saturday.
Consts Thabiso Mabaso and Denovin Norman of Benoni Flying Squad recovered this vehicle as well as another on Sunday.
W/O Grant Giblin, spokesperson for the flying squad, said the Volkswagen Crafter was found abandoned in Sedibeng Section on Saturday around 11.30am after officers received information on a crime group posted by a tracking company.
Giblin said the vehicle belonged to a business in Edenvale and was transporting cigarettes at the time of the hijacking.
“The vehicle was found in its original condition but without its load,” said Giblin.
A Ford Ranger was found abandoned at Aurora Sports Grounds on Sunday just after 8pm, again after members received information on a crime group.
The vehicle was stolen earlier that evening.
“The vehicle belongs to a Boksburg resident who was visiting in Norkem Park. It was found locked and in its original condition,” said Giblin.
