Wednesday’s annual State of the City (SOCA) address by the executive mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni will be delivered behind closed doors.
This comes in the wake of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement on Sunday evening that all gathering exceeding 100 people were prohibited.
“We are very disappointed that we are unable to host the public and invited guests for this year’s SOCA event. But we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today,” mayor Mzwandile Masina said on Monday .
“In my address I will be outlining the City’s state of preparedness to deal with the Covid-19 outbreak. This is not a signal for the public to panic, but the start of new habits we must adopt in order to protect our people.”
The SOCA will be digitally live streamed on the City’s digital platforms – Facebook and Twitter from 10am on Wednesday.
The address will also be broadcast on the following media channels:
