Woman arrested following discovery of stolen cellphone tower batteries

Police reacted to an anonymous tip-off

Rabie Ridge SAPS had arrested a 30-year-old woman after several cellphone tower batteries were discovered on her property.

The police received an anonymous phone call from Kanana Extension Four on March 12.

Spokesperson Const Jacob Nhlongo said the anonymous caller saw an unknown car dropping off batteries in Kanana Ext Four at one of the back rooms on the property.

“Upon arrival we found a female matching the description from the anonymous caller,” said Nhlongo.

The police asked her permission to search her property and as they were doing this, they found more than 10 batteries from different networks.

“She was asked to explain how the batteries ended up in her hands but she had no explanation. She was detained at Rabie Ridge Police Station,” added Nhlongo.
