More than a month after the DA shadow MMC for human settlements had reported two service delivery problems via the My Ekurhuleni App, nothing has been attended to.
“After residents log service delivery issues on the digital platform, there is simply no follow-up from metro officials,” said Clr Mabekenyane Thamahane.
“To illustrate this point, I reported two separate issues relating to a stormwater drainage problem in Birch Acres Extension 25 and another relating to potholes on Mububulu and Umgeya streets, also in Birch Acres on February 19. Over a month later, there has been no action from the metro and the potholes are growing.
“It is unfortunate that executive mayor Mzwandile Masina continues to brag about the growing numbers of app users. However, there is simply no follow-up to rectify the issues logged via the app by residents.
“A digital app is a great platform for logging service delivery issues, however, it is completely useless if there is no action from the metro when it comes to addressing these issues.”
The matter had been referred to the City of Ekurhuleni for comment.
