Ekurhuleni to open official central food bank

The City will not accept cash donations for the central food bank’s relief efforts

The City of Ekurhuleni’s central food bank in Springs will be officially opened today [Tuesday].

Executive mayor Mzwandile Masina and MEC Panyaza Lesufi will open the food bank at the Ekurhuleni Fresh Food Market in Springs. Masina will also receive several loads of emergency food relief packages.

This will be the single distribution point where relief donations in the City of Ekurhuleni will be received and then distributed through a ward based system. The beneficiaries will be identified through a rigorous and transparent selection process.

The City will not accept cash donations for the central food bank’s relief efforts but only food vouchers, food parcels, clothing and medical supplies.
