Taiwan donates relief parcels to Thembisa
The handover took place on June 22 in the Taipei Liaison Office.
On behalf of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Representative Matthew W Chou of the Taipei Liaison Office in the Republic of South Africa handed over 200 food parcels and sanitary items to Refiloe Nt’sekhe, a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature and the Democratic Alliance’s national spokesperson and deputy federal chairperson.
The handover took place on June 22 in the Taipei Liaison Office.
Nt’sekhe expressed her gratitude to the government of Taiwan as the donation would go to aid families in need in Thembisa.

Chou said Taiwan’s actions in containing this pandemic had been widely recognised. More than eight million confirmed cases of the coronavirus were reported worldwide, and nearly 440 000 people died from the illness so far.
But Taiwan has less than 450 cases, seven deaths and no new locally transmitted cases reported in eight consecutive weeks.
Chou added that Taiwan had actively launched international epidemic prevention cooperation and humanitarian assistance since the Covid-19 outbreak. Taiwan can help and Taiwan is helping.

Taiwan will continue to work with the government and people of South Africa to help the country contain the pandemic. He sent his best wishes to the South African government and everyone affected by the pandemic and prayed that the outbreak would soon be suppressed and under control.
