A staggered water supply interruption of 36 hours, starting at 11am on Wednesday, will affect numerous suburbs in Kempton Park during this period.
According to City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe, water to all areas should be restored by 11pm on Thursday, July 9.
The planned interruption is necessary to repair leaks and install valves that have had a negative effect on the Kempton Park water distribution network. The maintenance work will improve water reticulation and reduce interruptions in the affected areas, said Gadebe.

“The impact of the interruption has been reduced by staggering the repair work to different points of the water supply network to allow for supply from unaffected reservoirs. To mitigate the impact of the repair work on customers, water will be directly supplied from Northridge North and Jan Smuts reservoirs,” said Gadebe.
The areas that have been identified for valve installations and valve replacements, including water leak repairs, are:
• New valve installation on 1000mm steel pipe at No 1 Isando Road outside of Bohler on the corner of Barbara and Isando roads.
• Bypass installation with PRV at Kelvin and Western Street in Spartan for the purpose of managing pressure to Kempton Park CBD, Aston Manor, Allen Grove and Glen Marais.
• Replacement of 600mm, 450mm, 400mm at Sasol garage on the corner of Barbara Road and Trek Street.
• Pipe repairs at Isando Supa Quick on the corner of Isando and Foundary streets, plus valve replacement.
• Valve replacement at Daeraad and Bonaero Drive in Bonaero Park.
These areas may still be affected, depending on the estimated time it will take to complete the repairs: Simba factory, lower Spartan, Kempton Park CBD, Aston Manor, Allen Grove, Nimrod Park, Glen Marais, Bredell, Isando industrial, Croydon, Bonaero Park and Pomona.
Water tankers will be available at the spots:
• Cnr Park Street and Central Avenue – Kempton Park CBD
• Spar Cnr Monument and Dann roads – Glen Marais
• Cavendish Glen Shopping Centre – cnr Monument and Rietfontein roads
• Pick n Pay Glen Balad – cnr Fried and Loam streets, Glen Marais
• Spar Cnr 3rd Avenue and 6th Street, Bredell
• Cnr Kerk Street and Monument Road
• Food Lover’s Market, Cnr Dann Road and Veld Street, Glen Marais
• Pick n Pay Louis Botha Street, Bonaero Park
• Pick n Pay, Cnr Stanley Road and Main Street, Brentwood Park
• Cnr Brabazon and Die Agora roads, Croydon
• Next to Cresslawn Primary School, Cnr Rigger and Sycamore roads, Cresslawn
