Celebrating Women’s Month with a leading local female Uber driver
Sanokwe, a 42-year-old mother of three, is a Uber Eats courier. The Kemptonian is a qualified dental technician and a well-known seamstress in her community.
As the country celebrates Women’s Month under the theme of generation equality, Uber recognised local resident Enita Sanokwe, who is breaking boundaries to prove women really are a force to be reckoned with.
The transport and delivery industry has traditionally been seen as male-dominated; however, companies like Uber are providing women with the opportunity to get into the driver’s seat and increase earning opportunities that will suit them.
Sanokwe, a 42-year-old mother of three, is a Uber Eats courier from Kempton Park.
She is a jack of all trades and arguably masters them all.
The Kemptonian is a qualified dental technician and a well-known seamstress in her community.
Never one to shy away from any opportunity that will empower her as well as upskill her, she regularly attends events hosted by the app to support couriers to ensure their businesses succeed.

“I decided to become a driver because of the freedom and flexibility, which gives me time to also do my sewing.
“There are not a lot of female drivers as compared to men. When I started it was not easy, but the best part is they all treated me with respect and they also encouraged me to be strong and today I am still a driver.
“Most of the customers seem surprised when they see me arriving. Some compliment me on how brave I am as most people consider the job seemingly reserved for men.
“Although this job is flexible, it is risky to work at night. I encourage all other female drivers to have a contingency plan in place because life is very unpredictable. Let us stay safe and keep working hard,” said Sanokwe.
