Ward 15 Clr Amanda Davison informed Kempton Express of an impending hazard on Beukes Road in Glen Marais due to a major cavity formed around a storm water drain. According to Davison, this storm water drain has been a problem for many years.
“The system design is flawed and needs to be redone. Not only is this a major hazard for both vehicles and pedestrians, but it’s being used as a litter bin. This waste is then flushed further into the already blocked system,” said Davison.

Davison added that multiple queries were sent to varying departments, to which some have yet to receive reply or acknowledge receipt.
A query was sent to the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) on August 26. Among other concerns, the CoE was asked which department will be assigned to address the matter, in addition to when the issue can be expected to be rectified. The Express requested feedback from CoE by September 2.
