Ebony answers her calling to minister
Linah ‘Ebony’ Ngcobo (55), the supreme pop diva of the 80’s, was famous for setting parties ablaze with her songs. She has since then given her life to God and serves in the church. Today Ebony is a successful wife, mother and is the senior pastor of her ministry, God's Pearl Ministries.

Today Ebony is a successful wife, mother and is the senior pastor of her ministry, God’s Pearl Ministries.
“My work in the ministry includes preaching, to care for and feed the needy, marriage counselling, motivational speaking and engaging in outreach programmes that seek to build homes and communities.”
Her life turned around in 1997 when she gave her life to God and launched her new career as a gospel artist.

After a few years she took a break and focused on managing the blossoming careers of her musical family – her husband Ihhashi Elimhlophe and her children popularly known as Amaponi.
“I became instrumental in shaping and managing the affairs of my family business. In 2013 I returned to performing as Mam Ngcobo in the gospel scene.
“I use my music to motivate and change people’s lives. I also took on a role as Bo Sarah and made it very popular on South Africa’s popular TV soapie Muvhango.”
She began her singing career as a backing vocalist for different groups and bands like Paul Ndlovu, Kori Murabi, Dudu & the Big Time Boys, Abangani and Stimela.
In 1987 her solo career kicked off and she released a series of hit albums that saw her tour the African continent.
“Tshitsonga fans demanded that I release a Tshitsonga traditional album which I later did under my maiden name Linah Khama.
“Today the name Ebony brings about many fond memories among my multitudes of fans, as well as many Africans in general.”
Mam’Ngcobo remains one of South Africa’s great performers.
She is also a business woman and holds executive positions in a number of women empowerment organisations.
