#WeRead: Malinga’s book focuses on the cycle of abuse

“We all have a part to play in breaking the cycle of abuse.”

“We all have a part to play in breaking the cycle of abuse.” These are the words of published author Praise Malinga.

Malinga, from Norkem Park, published his fourth book titled Breaking the cycle of abuse in December 2019.

“I started writing the book in November 2019, but the research took more than a year, starting in 2017,” said Malinga.

“I was motivated by seeing many youth starting abusive relationships without being aware, and the reason is due to being raised in such families. That is why I titled it Breaking the cycle of abuse.

“The book also focuses on the effects and signs of abuse, and how it affects us all. It also teaches parents and guardians different programmes to have for their children to be effective in accepting the right relationships in all areas of their lives.”

Malinga has also written and published three other books, God in My Room Like in Eden, Beauty Has Neither Color Nor Size and Ink of Tears.

His books are available on Google Play Store and Amazon.

Malinga’s challenge with writing this book was the research.

“It took a lot to keep the inspiration high and for people to open up and for me not to be too emotionally attached to their situations,” shared Malinga.

“Abuse is a sensitive issue and it took a lot for me emotionally in order to write soberly.”

The local author’s advice for aspiring authors: “Never start writing without having done research because you need to finish as soon as possible before you lose the inspiration.

“And never think of money as your limitation.”
