FAKE NEWS: Reports of bust in Birch Acres untrue says SAPS
The article titled, Heavily armed hijackers bust, one killed, has been shared on multiple Kempton Park community WhatsApp groups.
An article, dated September 8, circulating on social media which states that 10 hijackers were arrested and one killed in Birch Acres has been described by SAPS as fake news.
The article titled, Heavily armed hijackers bust, one killed, has been shared on multiple Kempton Park community WhatsApp groups.
The article reads, “6 Nigerian National (arrested); 5 South African (4 arrested and one killed). This is one of the dangerous groups who were terrorising Kempton Park and neighbouring township.”

Sgt Johanna Madiga spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS described the article as fake news.
“Nothing like this have been reported. I confirmed with the standby duty officer in Kempton Park.”
The community is urged to be wary of sharing unconfirmed information about alleged crime incidents.
