#SingWithSundowns August winners enjoy spotlight
The Kempton Park and Thembisa residents embraced the country’s different cultures through the songs they composed in celebration of Mamelodi Sundowns’ 50th anniversary in the comfort of their homes.
#SingWithSundowns August winners Zenande Liwela (24) and Disebo Penelope Vilakazi (47) kicked off heritage month in style by impressing the judges by demonstrating joy even during this difficult period.
The Kempton Park and Thembisa residents embraced the country’s different cultures through the songs they composed in celebration of Mamelodi Sundowns’ 50th anniversary in the comfort of their homes.
The winners stand a chance to win a share of a whooping R6-million worth of prizes.

Xhosa language category winner Zenande and her brother heard about the competition on radio and he suggested that they participate as she could sing. Her brother is a fan of Mamelodi Sundowns, and it was important for him to assist her with the composition of the song.
“My brother is the engine behind the whole thing. He has pushed me in ways that I didn’t think were possible.”
Zenande is not a professional singer nor a soccer fan. She works as a junior lawyer at a law firm.
“I am over the moon about the win. Truth is I barely anticipated that I would. South Africa is filled with people who are ridiculously talented. The year 2020 has been a difficult year for all of us. So any moment of greatness is a win.
“The next goal is definitely the grand prize at the end of the year. Five years from now, I have no doubt my vocal ability will have developed immensely. I am definitely considering going into studio, or at least going to South African Idols.
“Winning R1-m would mean financial freedom for me and my family. The prize money would be used to better their lives,” said Liwela.
Sotho language category winner Disebo comes from Thembisa.
She has always been a Mamelodi Sundowns supporter and after hearing about the competition, she saw an opportunity to celebrate with the team by composing a song.
“My next step will be recording an album. I see myself in the next five years having my own artists who I will work with and also producing songs,” said Disebo.
