Zinhle does more than cook on SuperSport

Originally from Birch Acres, Zinhle Masango (28) has done laps around copious on-air studios such as SuperSport’s season two of the 5 Colours Show, featuring her very own cooking segment.

“I was actually a guest on season one of the show with Jaco de Bruyn from Van Riebeeck Park. I was then called to be a trainer and to do cooking segments for season two. I had the time of my life on set, especially with the cooking,” Zinhle reminisced.

“My role was to equip viewers with exercises they can perform in the comfort of their own home and also give them expert advice on healthy and delicious meals. I aim to attend culinary school next year, so the show helped me to expand my brand in a big way.”

With this, not only will people associate her with training, but her passion for cooking as well.

Her track record in the fitness media industry ranges from featuring as the cover girl on FitLife Mag, hosting a health and wellness segment on 947, being a guest on several television and radio shows, as well as a gender-based violence boot camp for Vodacom.

Zinhle is focused on strength above slimming.

“Give me weights anytime. I enjoy strength training. I genuinely enjoy it and spend six days a week in the gym. I also do some high-intensity interval training.”

What about her cooking?

“I am a certified nutritionist and understand the importance of a good and balanced diet. It’s not a lie that abs are made in the kitchen. My mom is a great cook. I fell in love with cooking because of her, although my food is 50 times healthier than hers,” Zinhle said.

For an easy, tasty and healthy meal, her go-to is a protein shake.

“I usually add a good protein powder, some frozen bananas or berries, almond milk, some nuts and honey. It’s a quick, easy, filling and delicious meal to make.”

But what if she, like the greater public, is to crave comfort food?

“I love pizza, hence in my first cooking segment I made a healthy take on pizza.”

In addition to the show, Zinhle was live on the Reebok South Africa’s Instagram page every Saturday during September.

“I have been on SABC 3’s Trending SA, SABC 1’s Mzansi Insider and Instapreneurs as well as Motswako’s Women In Fitness insert on Kwesta TV that aired on SABC 2.”

As an active influencer on so many platforms, one begs the question of where it all began? To which she replied: “In Kempton Park.”

“I have always been athletic. I was one of the fastest sprinters at Norkem Park Primary School but I did not pursue athletics as a sport or profession. I gravitated towards bodybuilding.

“My fitness journey started in 2016. Four years later, I have built a name for myself in the South African industry as an SA Bodybuilding Champ, fitness and wellness influencer and nutritionist.”
