The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) established dumpsites for recyclable waste, such as garden waste, glass, paper, cardboard, metal, plastic, tires, textiles, batteries and electronics.
According to the acting metro spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini, there are over 30 dumpsites situated in a different area across the city to fight illegal dumping.

“The Department of Waste Management Services has established mini-dumpsites in residential areas for easy accessibility for residents and waste collectors,” Dlamini said.
“Residents in the area are discouraged from dumping domestic waste at mini-dumpsites as it affects the process of waste sorting for recycling purposes facilitated by the city working with community-based recycling organisations.”
CoE categorised the operating hours for the sites into two: April to September operating hours are from 7am to 6pm and from October to March, they will operate from 7am to 7pm.
