Know your local NGO: Siyazigabisa Home of Hope

Siyazigabisa Home of Hope is caring for and serving the poor.

Siyazigabisa Home of Hope is changing the lives of the needy in the community by showing them hospitality and love.

Siyazigabisa is home to orphans, runaways and battered women.
Gab’sile Khoza, the founder and visionary behind Siyazigabisa, has been able to save many lives while uniting numerous families.

She advises and empowers all who are broken and shattered by tribulations and adversaries of all kind.

At the age of eight, Khoza was a victim of repeated rape, rejection and abuse.
Later in life, she felt it was her responsibility to protect children, especially young girls, from abuse and other social ills.
Khoza strongly believes that children are the pride of the future, and therefore need to be protected, to be loved, nurtured and given all the support that they need to become better people in the community and society.

She has proven not only to herself but also to her abusers that she’s an overcomer and a strong-willed individual.
The challenges on her path have only served to bring out the best in her and encouraged her to keep striving for excellence in everything she does, not just for herself but for others.

Khoza has also started a nonprofit company called Umhwebo ka G, which means Gabisile’s trade/business.

Here she imports and exports African arts and crafts all over the world to raise funds. She has also released a couple of music albums in this regards.
She finds pride in the fact that many young people who benefited from the home have since gone on to become successful in life.

“Being poor doesn’t make people different or unwanted, it’s just life. So I say that we should help everyone, no matter the colour, race or religion.

“Providing them with the means to better their situation will boost their self-esteem and assist them in overcoming the obstacles they face daily.

“Working with the poor and disadvantaged, we help them discover their own talents and capacities and bring them to good use at the right time and place.
“”We encourage them and let them know that they have something valuable that they can use to fulfil their basic needs,
“We are facing constraints regarding Covid-19, which may be attributed to the Covid-19. We’re still having trouble funding food packages and transportation, which are causing us a lot of stress as we approach the end of the month.

“It also breaks our hearts when we are unable to deliver food parcels or operate our soup kitchen due to logistical issues, such as when our bakkie breaks down or we run out of gas.

“We sit with a lot of disadvantaged and orphaned individuals. At times we have a community that sometimes contributes from their pocket, but of late the situation locally due to the pandemic has caused us to fall short of meeting the needs of our members.
“We hope to receive grants from the government or other willing companies to help us pay for school supplies and food,” said Khoza.
