Gauteng SAPS divers recover two bodies and foetus in separate water incidents
Spokesperson Warrant Officer Grant Giblin said whilst in the process of the recovery, members noticed a foetus floating past them, whereupon they immediately reacted and recovered the foetus of a baby boy.
SAPS divers from the Gauteng Water Policing and Diving Services (WPDS) responded to two water-related incidents across the province, recovering two bodies and a foetus between August 15 and 16.
On August 15, members of Ekurhuleni WPDS were called to a scene at Phomolong, Thembisa, where a body was reported in a stormwater channel close to Nyathi Street.
Assisted by Gauteng Emergency Services and Rabie Ridge Fire Department, the body of the unknown male was swiftly recovered from the sewerage water.

The victim’s body and foetus were handed over to members of Rabie Ridge SAPS for further investigation.
On August 16, members of Sedibeng WPDS were called to the scene of a body in the Natalspruit River close to the R550.
On arrival in Ext 8, Tsietsi, they were directed to the victim’s body stuck on rocks in the middle of the Natalspruit.
The body of an unknown male in his thirties was recovered and handed over to Edenpark SAPS for further investigation.
