Building plans to be collected from CoE
“The plan is submitted to the City’s Planning Department for approval. In some instances the owner is advised to make some alterations to the plan before it is approved.”

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) has called on residents who submitted building plans that were not approved between 2014 and 2019 to collect it. The plans were submitted and not approved, and the owners did not follow up on whether there were corrections to be made.
CoE divisional head of communication and media relations Nhlanhla Cebekhulu said the building plans have been kept in the City Planning offices without any follow-up from the owners.
“According to the law, if the property owner wants to build or extend a house they must appoint an architect or a drafter to design a proposed building plan. “The plan is submitted to the City’s Planning Department for approval. In some instances the owner is advised to make some alterations to the plan before it is approved.”
He said building without following the approved building plan may lead to the concerned structure or building being demolished at the cost of the owner.
Residents are urged to contact their nearest customer care centre to follow up on their submitted building plans.
