Shed your cluttered wardrobe and donate to Casa Caritas
The sponsored items that are not utilised by Casa Caritas are sold in their Something Blue shop in bundles of clothing hampers valued at R150.

During these cold winter months, Kemptonians are faced with a conscience to care for those less fortunate and in need of warmth and relief. Many carry Casa Caritas in their thoughts, with the disabled community who have been locked down with stringent regulations since the pandemic hit South Africa. As such, Casa Caritas has not been able to host its annual fund-raiser as per usual.
This gave birth to the Casa’s Something Blue Charity Shop that welcomes donations of clothing to be repurposed and sold to the community. The society’s CEO, Adri Kruger, told Express they depend highly on donations and sponsorships from the community of Kempton Park now more than ever before.
“The first thing we do once donations of clothing are received is to sort the items, first for the use of our home and disabled residents. The items which are not utilised by the home are sold in our Something Blue store,” Kruger explained.
The shop is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm and can be found at the Casa Caritas house at 7 De Villiers Avenue. “If the public wishes to request our clothing hampers for R150, they are welcome to contact me to prepare the order for collection, if our stock allows. If readers have any questions, they are welcome to phone me on 072 107 1989.”

Sharmaine Mari shed light on this need in the community as she is a local networking busybody dedicated to helping those less fortunate and affected by Covid-19. Mari said in Kempton Park, she always sees the same faces reaching out to the less fortunate and dreams of a community coming together and giving exposure to needy communities, like Casa Caritas.
“I’ve been trying to get more and more people involved with sponsorships of clothing. People could also donate work clothes for those seeking jobs in these challenging times,” Mari urged.
Folks are also welcome to contact Mari on 082 399 7774 if they seek alternative arrangements to donate to Casa’s Something Blue shop.
