According to the metro, all residential customers who have been affected by the technical glitches in prepayment vending will get their replacement units with their next purchase, irrespective of the date of the month.
Alternatively, customers can request replacement units at any municipal offices if not intending to buy anytime soon.
The affected residents either did not receive the full 100kWh free basic electricity units on tariff A or were charged R230 for the fixed charge on tariff B and have not claimed or received any replacement units.
The metro pointed out that replacement units do not expire.
Tariff B customers who have already partially collected or received their R230 fixed charge replacement units will receive the remainder 11.1kWh replacement units in due time as another process is required to be processed to allocate it with their next purchase.
Customers who wish to collect it at the offices are welcome to visit their local Customer Care Centre during office hours. An update in this regard will be published once the solution is completed.
The City wishes to express its gratitude to the customers for being patient in this regard, and the City profoundly apologises for any inconvenience this might have caused.
