During the Basadi Operations, 217 suspects were apprehended for various offences, including GBV.

Women’s Boots paraded at Thembisa’s Phumulani Mall on August 26 to execute an operation in commemoration of Women’s Month.

The parade also included members of the SANDF, EMPD, Gauteng SAPS members, CPF and other stakeholders.

According to Ekurhuleni district communications officer Capt Nelda Sekgobela, the parade was aimed at inspiring victims of gender-based violence (GBV) to never give up on their cases against their abusers.

“We also conducted roadblocks, drug inspections and donations to a local orphanage in Difateng Section because we believe that blessed is the hand that gives rather than the hand that receives,” Sekgobela said.

“Male members also attended the procession to show support to women in the enforcement, particularly during drug searches.”
