Community safety day to be held

The three-hour training session will cover basic firefighting, evacuation planning and hands-only CPR, with a strong emphasis on managing the initial stages of an emergency.

The Public Safety Company will be hosting its first Public Safety Awareness Day on September 4.

The event will take place at the Ken Horsely Fire Training Centre in Modderfontein from 09:00 to 12:00.

The three-hour training session will cover basic firefighting, evacuation planning and hands-only CPR, with a strong emphasis on managing the initial stages of an emergency – knowing who to call, when to intervene and what can and should be done before professionals arrive.

Residents are invited to join on the day. Full Covid-19 regulations will apply.

The cost of the event will be R150 per person to cover the cost of fire extinguishers and other disposables.

Tickets for the event are available at www.quicket.co.za; search for public safety awareness day.
