Four men arrested for mob murders

"Further arrests cannot be ruled out," said Ngcobo.

Detectives arrested four men in Kaalfontein for the alleged kidnapping and murder of three men who were accused of a spate of crimes committed in the area.

The four, whose ages range from 28 to 59, were picked up at their homes after they were pointed out by a witness who was present when they approached one of the victims.

The victims were badly beaten with sjamboks. They all died from their injuries on scene, notwithstanding the best efforts by paramedics to assist two of them who were barely alive.

The station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo, welcomed the arrests.

Ngcobo, who attended the scene as soon as he was informed about the incident, condemned the murders and called on the community to desist from taking the law into their own hands.

The four face charges of murder and are expected to appear in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court to answer to charges levelled at them.

“Further arrests cannot be ruled out,” said Ngcobo.
