Ayanda launches her EP

“My stage name is Aey, derived from the letter A, which represents the highest mark of excellence,” said Ayanda Sithole.

Music lovers, fans and supporters were well entertained at a recent EP launch held at Cappello Birchleigh North.

Birch Acres resident and talented songstress Ayanda Sithole launched her five-track EP titled Shades of Me.

The audience was dazzled by her beauty, stage presence and dance moves and wowed by her lyrics and vocal talent.

“My stage name is Aey, derived from the letter A, which represents the highest mark of excellence,” said Ayanda.

“Some of my fans also refer to me as Bhubesykazi-Queen of the African Jungle. They say it’s like I’m an African warrior when they watch me perform on stage.”

Ayanda realised her love for music when she was in her primary school years.

“I knew I loved music when I was in Grade Five, I was already writing songs. I decided to form a music group at school and we used to entertain other learners during lunch breaks,” explained Ayanda.

The local music talent is not signed under any record label and works independently. She also explained that her musical journey has been met with challenges.

“I’ve worked with people who had ulterior motives; I have also had one of my hit songs stolen by a big artist. I have also worked with a record company but things didn’t go as I had expected, which almost shattered me but I’m grateful I managed to pick myself up and finally release an EP,” shared Ayanda.

“Going forward, the plan is to take my music to other parts of Africa and then to the world.”

Ayanda has moved past the challenges she has faced in her career thus far and looks towards a brighter future, which is the feeling people can look to get from her EP.

The local artist titled her EP Shades of Me because she is telling the darker side of the story of her life. It’s in the past and she has conquered through it all, which ties in well with her advice to other up-and-coming artists who wish to record.

“It’s important to do what is true to you, stop trying to fit in; be weird, be different, be what God created you to be. Believe in yourself first, and believe in what you do. Everybody’s journey is different, so don’t you dare give up just because things aren’t going as you expected. Always remember anything worth having doesn’t come easily,” advised Ayanda.

Her EP is out and available on digital platforms, including Audiomack, SoundCloud, Spotify, iTunes and YouTube Music.
People can also follow her on social media under the handles Aey thee Bhubesykazi (Facebook page), @Bhubesykazi on Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
