Night of fashion held in Kempton

“We spent many months creating these striking outfits to help women and families who were financially affected by the pandemic.”

The Bush Whisper Foundation hosted its first fashion show, Elements of Africa, which doubled as a charity initiative aimed at helping South Africans who’ve lost their jobs because of the global pandemic.

The Bush Whisper Foundation was established as a supportive role for both those affected by the pandemic and the conservation of South Africa’s wildlife.

Held on October 1, the event was hosted at Nkanga Lodge in Kempton Park.

The evening saw models take to the catwalk in garments created from locally sourced shweshwe material.

Garments were handmade and designed by Talitha Oosthuizen and Jodie Berry, who were assisted by a team of seamstresses and design students.

The designs were created based on the elements and their role in our world namely, earth, wind, water and fire,

“We spent many months creating these striking outfits to help women and families who were financially affected by the pandemic,” said Talitha Oosthuizen, Mrs Tourism SA, co-owner of Bush

Whisper Expeditions and patron of the Bush Whisper Foundation.

“This is the aim of our foundation, to help support those in tourism and hospitality who have lost their livelihoods in the past two years.”

Talitha said besides being a way to help others, the event was the launch of Bush Whisper Foundation’s fashion label.

In between the fashionable moments, guests were also treated to a spectacular display of entertainment from the likes of Corlea Botha and Con Grazia.
