Shots fired during robbery in Spartan

A case of armed robbery is being investigated by Kempton Park SAPS after incident on October 8 in Spartan.

Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park Police Station, said the driver of a vehicle was attacked by four armed suspects at the corner of Kelvin Street and Steel Road in Spartan.

“The complainant was travelling down Kelvin Street when two cars stopped in front of his vehicle. The suspects jumped out of the vehicles and fired shots towards the vehicle, damaging the tyres and the engine in an effort to immobilise the victim’s vehicle.

“The victim got out of his vehicle after the shots were fired.

“He alleged to have been robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash at gunpoint by more than four armed suspects who were driving a BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The suspects left the scene in the two vehicles, going in different directions,” said Mtshali.
