Suspects arrested after robbery

The six suspects will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court soon on charges of armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Members from the Kempton Park Police Station, SAPS task force, EMPD Task Force and local security companies arrested six suspects in Du Plessis Avenue on October 14.

Capt Jethro Mtsali, spokesperson for Kempton Park Police Station, said occupants of a white Toyota Tazz have been reportedly robbing community members.

“It is alleged the same vehicle was spotted at about 06:10, robbing a female of her belongings at gunpoint in Karee Street, Birchleigh. The manhunt started this morning until the vehicle was spotted in Du Plessis Street. Officers cornered the vehicle and found five males and a female suspect. Upon searching the suspects’ vehicle, a firearm was recovered. It was later established to be a pellet gun,” said Mtshali.

The six suspects will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Police are asking members of the public who have been robbed by the suspects to come forward and report it to the Kempton Park Police Station on 08600 10111.
