With the end of the year drawing near, trio crimes (armed robbery, house robbery and business robbery) are on the rise in the Kempton Park area.
Capt Jethro Mtshali, the spokesperson for Kempton Park Police Station, said July to September showed an increase in trio crimes compared to the same period in 2020.
“The police are trying to engage on various crime prevention operations to curb and limit such crimes. It is, for this reason, police have already launched festive season operations, including the normal district operations and provincial operation Okae Molao, managed by provincial commissioner Lt-Gen Elias Mawela,” said Mtshali.

He provided a few safety tips for readers to follow:
• Do not withdraw large amounts of cash from banks, as criminals tend to follow victims and rob them.
• When truck drivers are stopped at freeways by suspicious officers, they should drive to the nearest filling station for safety.
• Truck drivers must not stop when shown by any person that something is wrong with a truck.
• Motorists should always be aware of their environment and in driveways.
• Never leave valuable items on your backseat while driving.
