FF Plus candidate Jennifer Glover:

“The council should invest in preventative controls to ensure compliance and prevent financial losses, fraud, corruption, mismanagement of public resources and service delivery deficiencies.

“The FF Plus believes to improve financial management transactions should be monitored, reviewed and supervised. The lack of proper record-keeping of transactions prevents transparency.

“The professionalism of municipal management is vital; therefore, knowledgeable officials with the necessary skills and qualifications must be appointed.

“To improve service delivery and municipal management, the increase of unfair rates and taxes should be stopped. A favourable environment must be created for the private sector to stimulate economic growth and create sustainable job creation.”

As a councillor, Jennifer is addressing service delivery problems on a daily basis. She is also the FF Plus’s mayoral candidate for the upcoming local government elections.

She assists residents with resolving inaccurate municipal service accounts and is actively busy holding the ANC government accountable for the decline and decay of Ekurhuleni.

Jennifer also organises various community projects on behalf of the FF Plus, these include projects aimed at cleaning up the area, repairing potholes, collecting food and clothing for the underprivileged and more.

She serves as the FF Plus’s caucus leader and chief whip, chairperson of the minority party caucus, as a member of the Section-79 Oversight Committee, the Women’s Committee and the IEC Committee.

Jennifer also serves on various provincial structures of the FF Plus, where she plays a significant role in decision-making. She is a licensed lawyer and her zeal and knowledge of the law are an asset to the party.

CHANGE candidate Bongani Collen Mngomezulu:

“Small businesses are important in growing the economy. We shall ensure small businesses are subsidised, that it may employ people from within the wards.

“We will provide training in skills and leadership for young people, both men and women.

“Economic conflict should be thoroughly considered and dealt with and we will deal with poverty, lack of infrastructure, lack of education and unemployment. With this, our local economy will increase.”

ACDP candidate Tambo Mokoena:
Maintaining our electrical system and paying Eskom on time is the first service delivery issue that ACDP mayoral candidate Tambo Mokoena would like to tackle in Thembisa.

“As ACDP,” said Mokoena, “we will hold the metro accountable for keeping the lights on where it is their responsibility to do so. When street lights are not working, cable theft takes place.

“These days there is a culture of everything for free – even traffic lights are being targeted for their copper and stop signs are taken to be sold as scrap metal.

“The resulting power outages make it very difficult for businesses to operate, and then protesters put up barricades in the roads.

“It is shocking that the metro has a 33% vacancy rate in its electrical department. The ACDP will address this matter so that electricity outages can be prevented by proper maintenance and dealt with quickly when they do happen.”
