As part of our role to inform our readers, the Thembisan publicly invites the mayoral candidates or Ekurhuleni party leaders to answer one question: Which service delivery problem in Ekurhuleni, which hinders the rebuilding of the Thembisa’s local economy, will you address first and how?

Commenting on behalf of Izak Berg from the Independent Ratepayers Association (Irasa), Ashley Rutherford commented:

The first thing that Irasa would do in Thembisa is to ensure that the electricity supply is stabilised because an economy cannot grow without reliable power.

This would entail meetings with the residents to ascertain the extent of their grievances and thereafter meetings with the electricity department to ensure that the infrastructure is working and replaced where necessary.

Water and sanitation must also take priority.

Water is life. Sewage is dignity.
