Boy (18) arrested for rape after girl (14) reports incident

The SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) from the Ekurhuleni District arrested a high school learner for rape on November 4.

The 18-year-old learner from a high school in Ivory Park was arrested after the alleged rape of a fellow learner.

The suspect, a Grade 10 learner, allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl in the school’s toilets on October 28.

A case was opened shortly after the incident and the investigations commenced as soon as it was registered.

The suspect was arrested, taken to the Ivory Park police cells, pending his appearance in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court.

The station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brig David Ngcobo, expressed shock at this incident.

“We welcome this arrest as it will send a clear message to others that this kind of conduct will never be tolerated,” said Ngcobo.
