Sweating for a good cause at Birch Acres Primary
The boot camp, which attracted masses, was organised by Vusi ‘BlackVreka’ Hlabangwana.
Scores of donations were received at the recent Charity Boot Camp held at Birch Acres Primary School.
Women and children at Kempton Park’s Tshegofatsa Rona Welfare were the beneficiaries of the boot camp.
The boot camp, which attracted masses, was organised by Vusi ‘BlackVreka’ Hlabangwana.
Hlabangwana is a model, fitness and wellness trainer who collaborated with his partner, Tebogo Monama, who is also a fitness trainer.

“We did this out of love. When I got in touch with Cynthia Dinalane and visited the welfare I saw the need and that I have to help,” said Hlabangwana.
“It got me thinking that God gave me a talent of bringing people together, so we decided to reach out and see who would be willing to join and share the day with us.”
Hlabangwana also mentioned he was touched to learn of and witness all the great work done by Dinalane, founder of Tshegofatsa Rona Welfare.
“It is not everyone who could take abused women and children and place them in their home. She doesn’t receive any funding and does things from her own pockets. The welfare relies on donations,” explained Hlabangwana.
“Seeing the love she has for the people under her care and her selflessness to ensure the women and children are safe in her home touched me.
“We can make the change, we shouldn’t wait for others or the government but make a change with the little we have.”
Toiletries, food, nappies and clothes were among the things donated at the boot camp, which also served as the entrance fee.
People dropped off the items and got onto the field for aerobics and exercise.
Though sweating was the order of the day, fun was had as women and children from the welfare also joined in on the workout session.
The crowd committed themselves to the workout session to keep fit, healthy and maybe shed a few kilos, but mainly it was to honour the women and children at the welfare.
An emotional Dinalane was left speechless as she witnessed the tremendous support and generous donations.
“From the depth of my heart, I am humbled and grateful for all that has happened today,” said a teary Dinalane on the day.
“You all have left me speechless. All I can say is thank you, these will go a long way in assisting us. May God bless all of you.”
