Kempton Park’s Avion cricketers take on Bedfordview and more

First up was the Avion u-8 Impala 1 side, which took on rivals from Springs Old Boys (SOB).

Avion batted first, scoring 95 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.

SOB replied with 27 runs for four wickets in nine overs before the match was abandoned due to bad weather.

This resulted in a draw.

Avion’s best batsman for the match was Wihan Knot, who scored 10 runs, while Elandre Steyn was named the best bowler for the game with two wickets for five runs.

Avion’s u-8 Carnival side faced Thembisa next.

Thembisa batted first, scoring 74 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 batting overs.

Avion replied with 78 for the loss of two wickets in 17 overs. Avion won the match by eight wickets.

Juandre van Rensburg was named batsman and bowler of the match, with 35 runs not out while batting and taking two wickets for eight runs in his spell with the ball.

The Avion u-12 Carnival side took on Bedfordview Country Club (BCC) in Bedfordview.

BCC batted first and scored 121 runs for the loss of four wickets in 25 overs.

Avion replied with 47 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 18 overs to hand Bedfordview the win by 74 runs.

Luke Posthumus took one wicket for 18 in five overs, while Zander Hefer walked away from the bowling innings with one for the loss of 13 runs in three overs.

Scheepers was Avion’s best batsman with 15 runs.

In the last game to be played, Avion’s u-12 Sun side faced Old Bens.

The game was moved to Laerskool Die Arend due to wet pitch conditions at Laerskool Brentwood Park.

The match move also meant the game was reduced to 20 overs.

Avion batted first and scored 143 runs for the loss of nine wickets.

Old Bens replied with 144 runs for the loss of two wickets in 17 overs.

Old Bens won the match by eight wickets.

Rowland Green led the batting with 53 runs, while Damian Dreyer shone with the ball, taking one wicket for nine runs in two overs.
