CoE calls on Thembisa residents to remain calm amidst Eskom power interruption

CoE implemented rotational load reduction since December 5

The City of Ekurhuleni called on residents Thembisa to remain calm while Eskom is working on replacing its two burnt transformers that are supplying the area.

“While Eskom is working to replace the transformers, the City had to implement rotational load reduction since December 5 as its supply capacity from Eskom was reduced drastically. Though Eskom has secured a new transformer for Thembisa, it remains unclear when the situation in Thembisa will be normalised,” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

“Due to the nature of the fault affecting Thembisa customers, we are unable to provide the estimation time to restore power. We urge customers that are affected to be patient as we are working on restoring the supply,” said Eskom.

“Due to the current status quo, the City will have to continue with the rolling rotational load reduction. The City undertakes to keep the community informed as and when there are developments regarding matter,” Dlamini said.

Rotational Load Reduction:

Between 14:00 and 20:00 on December 8, the following areas will be affected: Emangweni, Ext10, Emoyeni mfihlweni, Isekelo Elidinga, Isiziba, part of Iqgaqga, Isithame, Emoyeni, Mqana, Xubene, Ecaleni, Vusumuzi, Ehlanzeni, Welamlambo, Isivana, Ethafeni, Esiphetweni, Jiyane, Birch Acres Ext 23 to 44, Hospital View, Ext 1and 4, parts of Winnie Mandela, Moriteng, Mashimong, Kopanong, Makhlong, Sethokga, Sedibeng Ext 7, parts of Mqansa.

On December 9 the rotational load reduction will continue from 7:00 to 14:00 affecting Endulwini, Isiziba, Inxiweni, Emkhathini, Iqgaqga, Ibazelo, ibazelo, IbaxaIsivana, Emfihlweni, Isithame, Emangweni, Ext10, Emoyeni, Emfihlweni, Isekelo, Elidinga, Isiziba, parts of Iqgaqga, Isithame, Emoyeni, Mqansa, Xubene, Ecaleni, Vusumuzi, Ehlanzeni, Welamlambo, Isivana, Ethafeni, Esiphetweni,  Jiyane, Birch Acres Ext 23 to 44, Hospital View, Ext 1, Ext 4 parts of Winnie Mandela, Moriteng, Mashimong, Kopanong, Makhulong, Sethokga, Sedibeng, Ext 7 and parts of Mqansa and parts of Ecaleni.
