House Môrester in desperate need of help

House Môrester in Birchleigh desperately needs support.

The facility forms part of the Executive Welfare Council (EWC) of the AFM of SA, known as AFM Welfare, a registered NPO.

House Môrester is also a registered NPO and serves as a child and youth care centre, which provides accommodation and care for nine children in Kempton Park.

The children are between the ages of two and 18. Some of these children have been removed from their parents’ care because of physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect and abandonment.

The child and youth care centres of the EWC are partly funded by government subsidies and are largely dependent on sponsors to be able to manage monthly expenses.

Delays in government subsidised payments left Môrester struggling during the past eight weeks to continue providing for the children’s nutritional needs.

Môrester called on the community for help.

The home needs groceries, such as tin food, vegetables and meat, building and vehicle maintenance, funds towards expenses, stationery and the services of professionals, such as phycologist, psychiatrist, dentist, orthodontist, eye specialist and occupational therapist.

All donations in monetary value will receive a Section 18 A tax certificate.

Donations can be paid into House Môrester’s bank account or products can be delivered or communicated for collection.

For more information, contact centre manager Salome Pieterse on 060 564 5493.
