Residents discouraged from giving gifts to waste removal workers

It is against council policy to gift officials from the CoE.

The City of Ekurhuleni urged residents to not give Christmas gifts to waste removal workers.

“It is against council policy to gift officials from the CoE with any goods for services rendered,” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

“This is prevalent during the festive season at times regarded as ‘gifting season’ as many residents tend to give small gifts of gratitude especially to waste removal services officials.

“The City cautions against this act of kindness from its customers. Waste collectors or officials are also discouraged from demanding or asking for ‘Christmas box’ from residents,” said Dlamini.
